I have no idea how complete it is but you could try that out. Some guy is making an open source clone of Civilization II. It's slightly insane but I think this would work without too much hassle. Then run Civilization II through the Wine running on the windows subsystem for linux. Then install wine on this installation, which is a program that translates Windows system calls into Linux. Install the Windows Subsystem for Linux (Ubuntu), which let's you run Linux Programs on Windows 10 64 bit versions. Install Linux to a partition on your hard drive, dual boot into it, copy the civilization II folder over and run it through wine. At this point though I wouldn't want to trust a tool I found on the internet for that sort of thing.ĭOSBox ĭownload virtualbox, download a windows XP ISO from microsoft, install Civilization II on virtual machine ![]() Not sure if something like the 64 bit patch exists for Test of Time but you can do some googling. The next time you start a game you should see the difference. Then unzip (using an unzipping utility such as WinZip) the files to the directory in which your version of Civ II resides (by default usually C:MPSCiv2). For Linux you just need to run the game through wine, which translates windows system calls into linux system calls. First download the patch you want ( If you have ToT you should not have to download the first two parts of the MGE patch ). For Windows I had to patch the exe's to be compatible with 64 bit operating systems with a fan-made tool that modified the exe. I have gotten Civilization II Multiplayer Gold Edition and Civilization II the original version (I really like Civilization II.) working on Windows 10 and Linux. ![]() ![]() I have the Test of Time version but I haven't tried it on my windows 10 machine.
